ORIGINAL CARD SLEIGHTS, ROUTINES AND IDEAS FOR
GUYS WHOSE 52 FRIENDS FIT IN A BOX.

"To entertain well as a conjurer requires
hours of study, disciplined practice, eloquent scripting,
diligent rehearsal and a passionate performance
...and that's just the self-working stuff."
--Mick Ayres' 5 Obligations of Conjuring

Are you ready to cross the line?

Early in the 20th century, magic shops often had a white line painted on the floor near the back of the
store.  Unless you were recognized by the shop owner as a serious student of magic, you were not given
permission to cross the line.  All the secret props, devices, gimmicks and the 'underground' books were
kept behind the white line.  The general public wasn't allowed access to these secrets.

Today, the internet has changed all that.  Now, anyone determined enough can gain access to the
'inside secrets' and there is little the magic community can do about it.  However, since the beginning of
our art, there is one immovable barrier that stands fast between serious magicians and the simply
curious...work.  That's right.  Work.

Walking into a music store and buying a guitar does not make you a musician.  There are years of study,
practice and rehearsal ahead before anyone will consider you proficient or talented.  By the same token,
purchasing a trick in a magic shop does not make you a magician...yet.  Owning the prop and reading
the instructions is one thing; performing the trick with a solid presentation is another.  A majority of the
simply curious will abandon their pursuit of knowledge once they learn there is work involved.  For those
that remain...welcome to the other side of the line!

The word 'magic' is an umbrella-term that describes a myriad of entertaining art forms...sleight-of-hand,
platform magic, stage illusions, escapes, mentalism, etc.  Here, at
CardWorker.com, the emphasis is on
sleight-of-hand magic, obviously with playing cards.

In the near future,
CardWorker.com will offer explanations, discussions
and reviews about new and classic card sleights, routine scripting and preparation,
rehearsal techniques, little-known finesses and staging procedures for
entertainers interested in presenting fresh, new material from the world of card magic.
You can learn a lot here...if you're willing to do the work.

"Presentation is everything."                                "Mediocrity is unacceptable."

"There is no magical road to success
unless it be hard work and bitter experience."
